Boring Heads (METRIC & INCHES)
- Enlarging existing holes to precise diameters.
-
Achieving tight tolerance bores.
-
Improving the concentricity and roundness of holes.
-
Producing fine surface finishes inside cylindrical cavities.
- Boring heads are indispensable tools in precision machining, offering unmatched accuracy in internal diameter cutting.
- Their adjustability, reliability, and ability to produce fine surface finishes make them an excellent choice for finishing operations where tolerances are tight and precision is critical.
- It is mounted onto the machine spindle, and during operation, it rotates to cut into the workpiece. The primary function of a boring head is to allow for fine adjustments in the cutting diameter

Boring heads are essential tools in the world of machining, particularly when it comes to enlarging and finishing the internal diameters of holes with a high degree of precision. Used in milling machines, lathes, or boring mills, boring heads enable machinists to perform accurate internal cutting, improving the size, roundness, and surface finish of pre-drilled or cast holes. A boring head consists of a sturdy body that holds one or more adjustable cutting tools. It is mounted onto the machine spindle, and during operation, it rotates to cut into the workpiece. The primary function of a boring head is to allow for fine adjustments in the cutting diameter. This is achieved by shifting the cutting tool laterally with a dial or micrometer screw, enabling extremely accurate control—often within thousandths of an inch or hundredths of a millimeter. The main structure of the boring head, usually made of hardened steel, designed to minimize vibration and ensure rigidity. A precision screw used to adjust the position of the cutting tool, allowing for accurate changes in boring diameter. The slot or bore in which the cutting tool (boring bar) is clamped. The part of the boring head that fits into the spindle of a milling machine or boring mill. Some boring heads come with multiple tool slots, allowing simultaneous operations or staggered cutting for balance.
